Sited along the top of an arroyo above the Pacific Ocean, this master plan responds to the topography of the site as it allows for a long, undulating 400 meter circulation spine that spans the length of the site and separates the 2-levels of parking and the 4-levels of laboratories and offices. These gently slope down towards the arroyo to appear to have less height to meet the stringent requirements of the California Coastal Commission. The moderate climate of La Jolla allows the circulation to be exterior beneath an open trellis.
